Pasadena Tummy Tuck

The tummy tuck procedure is also called abdominoplasty which can help many people get back to the shape they once were and restore high self esteem. For people whose abdominal region bulges out with excess skin and fat, and no amount of exercise diet helps, this procedure is a good choice.   However, tummy tuck surgery is not considered a viable option for people who are obese.  Obese people should lose some weight and be in an overall good state of health before considering abdomioplasty.  The procedure produces very desirable results in which the tummy becomes flatter and firmer.

In Pasadena there are several surgeons that can perform the tummy tuck operation.  As a potential patient, you should be careful to choose a doctor with experience and one who is board certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  This will ensure that the correct procedure will be performed with the best possible outcome.

Two Types Of Tummy Tuck Procedures

There are two widely recognized versions of abdominoploasty.  The full tummy tuck operation involves three primary procedures: 1) removal of excess skin in the abdominal area, tightening and suturing together skin from the trimmed area, 2) removal of excess fat from under the skin in the abdominal area, and 3) tightening and repositioning of some abdominal muscles.  The Mini Tummy Tuck operation uses the first two procedures only.  This operation can be preferable because the procedure is less major and recovery time is decreased over the standard full procedure.  Incisions are smaller and scarring is reduced.

After your initial consultation with your surgeon, it will be determined which of the tummy tuck procedures is best for you.  If your underlying muscle tone and structure is good, then the mini tummy tuck may be the best option.

What Will It Cost?

Because tummy tuck surgery is elective and technically cosmetic, most health insurance companies do not cover any of the costs.  However, if you have a hernia that requires surgery or other recommended weight loss surgery such as a Lap Band, some of the costs for the abdominopolasty can be covered by your insurance carrier.
